This explains what Terrascio collects, why, and what you can do about it. We've tried to keep it honest and readable rather than lawyerly.

Terrascio is operated by Hummerfort Publishing Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (company number 14625756). Hummerfort Publishing Ltd is the “data controller” for the information described here. The easiest way to reach a human about privacy is hello@terrascio.com.
If you create an account, we store your email address and a username (and an optional avatar image URL if you add one). Sign-in is handled by Supabase Auth: it manages your password and login session for us, and your password is hashed by Supabase — we never see or store it in plain text. We use this to sign you in and to save your progress to the right account.
When you're signed in, we save how you play so your progress persists: scores, how long rounds took, XP, level, daily streaks, which places you've seen and how well you did on them, a hidden skill rating used to pick suitable difficulty, and any achievements you've unlocked. This is gameplay data — it's about the questions you answered, not about where you are in the world.
If you join our email list — for example, to be notified when our weekly geography challenge launches — we store your email address so we can contact you about Terrascio. This is separate from your account. Terrascio has no email-sending set up yet, so for now these addresses are simply held on the list and nothing is sent. When we do start emailing, every message will include an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to remove you from the list at any time.
If you report a problem or send feedback, we store your message along with basic context (which page or game you were on), and your account ID if you're signed in. Anything you type is up to you — please don't include sensitive personal details in a feedback note.
The homepage opens on a place near you. To do that, our hosting/CDN provider works out a two-letter country code from your connection and passes it to us as a request header. We read that country code to choose a starting region, and then discard it — it is not stored in our database. We do not receive or store your precise location, and we never ask for your browser's location permission.
When analytics is switched on, we use PostHog to understand which games and pages get used, so we can improve them. These events are anonymous — we don't tell PostHog who you are or link the analytics to your account. PostHog may estimate a rough location (country/region) from your IP on their side. Analytics uses cookies (see below).
When error monitoring is switched on, we use Sentry to be told when something breaks, with the technical details of the error so we can fix it. It is not configured to collect personal information such as your IP address.
We keep cookies to a minimum. The only cookies Terrascio always sets are the strictly-necessary ones that keep you signed in — set by Supabase to hold your login session. These are essential; the logged-in site can't work without them.
When usage analytics is enabled, PostHog also sets a non-essential analytics cookie to recognise a returning (anonymous) visitor. We don't use advertising, tracking, or social-media cookies, and there are no third-party ad or “like” pixels on the site.
We don't sell your data or share it for advertising. We do rely on a few providers to run the service, who process data on our behalf:
Each is bound by its own agreement to handle data only as needed to provide its service. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
These providers may store or process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States. Where that happens, they use standard legal safeguards for international transfers. If you need the exact hosting locations for your records, email us.
We keep your account and progress for as long as your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove it and the game data attached to it. Feedback and analytics may be kept for a limited period to help us improve the game.
Depending on where you live (for example, under UK/EU GDPR), you have the right to access the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, get a copy to take elsewhere, object to certain uses, and withdraw any consent you gave. You can also complain to your local data-protection authority.
To exercise any of these, email hello@terrascio.com and we'll sort it out. There isn't a one-click “delete my account” button in the app yet, so for now deletion is by request — we aim to action it promptly.
Terrascio is a general-audience game and isn't directed at young children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the “last updated” date above. Significant changes will be flagged more prominently.
